The brachial plexus is the major bundle of nerves that starts at the base of the neck and runs through the shoulder and down into the arm and hand. The bundle consists of trunks (primary nerves…think tree) and cords (smaller and thinner…think branches). This illustration shows how the brachial plexus nerves run through and relate to the muscles in the shoulder, arm and hand.
